Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with Annex XI, section 2 (Testing is not technically possible), testing for a specific endpoint may be omitted, if it is technically not possible to conduct the study as a consequence of the properties of the substance.
The susbtance is insoluble in water, further to this, due to technical difficulties, analytical methods employed in the test would not produce an accurate assessment of the water solubility.
Supporting data was provided in the form of a material safety data sheet:
Acros Organics (2007) Material Safety Data Sheet dibutylin diacetate pract. Bibliographic source: website https://fscimage.fishersci.com/msds/75959.htm. Owner company: Acros Organics N.V., One Reagent Lane, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Company study No.: ACC #75959. Report date: 2007-03-16.
The data were sourced from a material safety data sheet and therefore assigned a reliability score of four as it was not possible to assess the accuracy of the data from the limited details provided.
A water solubility study was performed to the EU Method A.6, however this was not used in assessment as the results were not considered reliable.
BNT Chemicals (2010) Water solubility of Dibutyltindiacetate. Testing laboratory: Report No.: BNT 5144-1. Report date: 2010-06-04
The water solubility of dibutyltin di(acetate) was determined in a study conducted to EU Method A.6. The study was assigned a reliability score of 3.

Additional information

The data sourced from the safety data sheet Acros Organics (2007) was provided in support of the data waiver submitted for ommision of further water solubility testing. The substance is stated as insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L). A reliability score of 4 was assigned as the reliability of the data could not be determined from the limited data provided.

The study by BNT Chemicals (2010), was not used in assessment as the results conflicted with the historically known properties of the substance and is inconsistent with findings in other dibutyltin substances. As such the study was assigned a reliability score of 3 (not reliable).
