Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is highly insoluble in water, hence indicating that aquatic toxicity is unlikely to occur
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the short-term studies for aquatic toxicity to invertebrates which is usually required in Section 9.1.1 do not need to be conducted for substances if there are mitigating factors indicating that aquatic toxicity is unlikely to occur such as if the substance is highly insoluble in water.
The water solubility of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 105, EU Method A6 and OPPTS 830.7840 under GLP conditions. It proved difficult to obtain a solution of the test material for water solubility testing. Under the conditions of this study, the water solubility of the dissolved material was < 0.000728 mg/L. The substance is therefore considered highly insoluble in water and testing on the short-term toxicity to invertebrates does not therefore need to be conducted.
