Valid acute toxicity studies evaluating the toxicity of the substance to aquatic organisms are available for three different trophic levels and microorganisms. All studies were performed according to international guidelines and GLP, except the microorganism study which was not done under GLP.

Fish (Danio rerio) turned out to be the most sensitive species with a LC50 (96 h) of 10.8 mg/L (nominal) followed by aquatic invertebrates (daphnia) (EC50 (48h) = 19 mg/L) and algae (ErC50 (72 h) 27 mg/L / NOEC = 7.2 mg/L).

The respiration inhibition test with activated sludge from a municipal STP determined an EC50 (3h) of 170 mg/L. Thus, significant inhibition of the degradation process in sewage treatment plants is not expected.
