Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flash point of the test substance was determined according to EEC guideline 92/69 A9.
The flash and fire points of the registration substance were as followed at 760 mm Hg.
Closed Cup Flash Point = 109 degrees centigrade
Open Cup flash point = 151 degrees centigrade
Fire Point = 181 degrees centigrade

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
109 °C

Additional information

The flash point is the lowest temperature at which the test liquid in a closed or open test vessel and under defined conditions produces a flammable vapour/air mixture. Using the open test vessel it is also possible to determine the fire-point of petroleum products. This is the temperature of the oil at which it ignites and continues to burn for 5 seconds.

The flash point was determined according to EEC guideline 92/69 A9 using Pensky Marten Apparatus, in a closed cup and open cup test procedure by continuation of heating beyond the flash point until the oil ignites and continues to burn for 5 seconds. The flash and fire point of the registration substance were determined in duplicate according to BS6664 Part 5 (Flash point by Pensky-Martens closed tester) and BS2000 Part 35 (Flash point and fire point by Pensky Martens open tester). Duplicate determinations of the closed flash points of the standard materials n-decane and n-hexadecane had previously ensured calibration of instrumentation and standardisation methods.

The flash and fire points of the registration substance were as followed at 760 mm Hg.
