Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
August 20, 2001 - Januar 02, 2002
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
0 s
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

BLUE GS 5664.80 could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). In contact with the ignition source, BLUE GS 5664.80 gleamed

temporary and carbonized. The color of the gas flame changed to orange/yellow. No smoke or soot was observed.

Therefore, no main test was performed.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
BLUE GS 5664.80 is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of the guideline.
Executive summary:

The flammability of BLUE GS 5664.80 has been determined in the current study performed following EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A. 10 "Flammability (solids)", EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992 and according to GLP.

In the preliminary test, the test item in its commercial form was made into a pile of 250 mm length. An attempt was then made to ignite the sample with the aim to determine the burning time over a distance of

200 mm. BLUE GS 5664.80 could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). In contact with the ignition source, BLUE GS 5664.80 gleamed temporary and carbonized. The color of the gas flame changed to orange/yellow. No smoke or soot was observed.

No further (main) tests were performed according to the results obtained in the preliminary test.

In conclusion, BLUE GS 5664.80 is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of the guideline.

Description of key information

BLUE GS 5664.80 is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A. 10 "Flammability (solids)", EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The screening test was negative, leading to an absence of classification in the decision logic for flammable solids.
