Additional information

The mutagenicity of 1,1 -dimethoxytrimthylamine was tested in the Ames test and in the Escherichia coli reverse mutation assay. An increase in the number of his or trp revertants was not observed both in the standard plate test and in the preincubation test either without S-9 mix or after the addition of a metabolizing system. According to the results of the study, the test substance 1,1-dimethoxytrimthylamine was not found to be mutagenic in the Ames test and Escherichia coli reverse mutation assay under the experimental conditions chosen. [BASF, 1988]

Short description of key information:
1,1-dimethoxytrimthylamine was not mutagenic in the Ames test (E. coli and S. typhimurium) either with or without a metabolizing system.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification for genetic toxicity is not warranted according to the criteria of EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and EU Directive 67/548/EEC.
