Description of key information

GLP-compliant guideline studies were available assessing acute toxicity to invertebrates in freshwater and marine environments.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Fresh water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
100 mg/L

Marine water invertebrates

Marine water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
250 mg/L

Additional information

The results of the short-term toxicity tests (selected as key studies) to Daphnia magna (freshwater) and to Acartia tonsa (marine), showed no mortality at limit concentration and a 48hr EC50 value of 250 mg/l respectively. It can be concluded that the test material Diutan is of low toxicity to invertebrates based on these observed results.
