Instruments used:
All-glass ebulliometer with Cotrell tube and enclosed electric heating element. The apparatus was wrapped in aluminum foil to protect the test substance against light.
MKS Baratron 628 D Capacitance Manometer
Burster Kelvimat 4323 Pt100 Precision Thermometer
The substance was introduced into a boiling cell. Degassing of the test substance was not considered necessary. The lowest test pressure was selected and the heating power was increased until the test substance reached a study reflux in the Cotrell tube and measuring cell boiling temperature and pressure were recorded. Then the pressure was set for a higher absolute pressure and the test substance was heated further until a new reflux point was established. The pressure level was raised in increments until 10 boiling point and pressure pairs were recorded. Before the test, results at zero point and at atmospheric pressure were checked a versus laboratory manometer.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The boiling point of IOFH is 135.4 °C at 101.325 kPa.
- Executive summary:
The boiling point of IOFH was extrapolated from the measured data for the compound using the dynamic method. Vapor pressure and temperature were recorded at a variety of equilibrium points up to a temperature of 128 °C and fit to the Antoine equation. The resulting equation wasPvap [Pa] = exp(20.8255 – 3178.69 / (-66.7278 + T [K]). No method was reported, but the dynamic method is approved for this endpoint per OECD TG 103. No information about GLP compliance was available. Therefore, the study is classified as acceptable with restrictions.
