Description of key information

In accordance with Section 9.1 of Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, long term toxicity testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the Chemical Safety Assessment indicates the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms. 
Due to the properties of this substance, the environmental releases are strictly controlled and no emission to the environment takes place. The results of the chemical safety assessment therefore indicate that there is no need to further investigate the effects on the aquatic environment; as such, comparison of the derived PNEC with the results of the exposure assessment yield a risk characterisation ratio well below a value of 1.
It is therefore considered justified to omit the long-term toxicity testing on invertebrates study required in section 9.1.5 of Annex IX.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Supporting data is available in the form of a Daphnia magna reproduction test that was carried out in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 211.

No data other than the result is available; the original study data is in Japanese and it has not been possible to obtain the source information. The study was therefore awarded a reliability score of 4 in accordance with the criteria for assessing data quality as set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

The test was conducted sufficiently long ago that it is possible the study was carried out using a dispersant.

Under the conditions of this study, the 21 d EC50 was determined to be 2.2 mg/L and the 21 d NOEC was determined to be 0.36 mg/L.
