Results

Test series

Measured value [°C]

Corrected value [°C]

1

-20.8

-19.7

2

-20.3

-19.2

Mean value: -19.5 °C

The mean value is calculated from test 1 and 2 and rounded to ± 0.5 °C.

Determination of the corrected flash-point:

TC = T0 + 0.25 x (101.3 – p)

TC = corrected flash point to the standard atmospheric pressure (101.3 kPa)

T0 = measured flash point at actual atmospheric pressure

p = actual atmospheric pressure [kPa]

Conclusions:
A flash point value of -19.5 °C at 1013 hPa was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol. It was not compliant with GLP.
Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
closed cup
Remarks:
DIN 51755
Flash point:
< -20 °C
Conclusions:
A flash point of <-20°C was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol.

Description of key information

Ethoxytrimethylsilane: -19.5 °C (Abel closed cup method, EU Method A.9)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
-19.5 °C

Additional information

A flash point value of -19.5 °C was determined by Abel closed cup method according to EU Method A.9. In a supporting study a flash point value of <-20 °C was determined by closed cup method according to DIN 51755.
