Results:

Using the temperature program below 160 °C no significant weight loss was observed (weight loss ˂ 1 μg/min) or the weight loss was indeed recorded, but the slope of the weight loss was not stable and not reproducible. The results could not be evaluated, due to the test item properties (assumed decomposition of the impurities). The vapour pressure cannot be determined with the sufficient accuracy under these conditions.

The evaluation of the vapour pressure was done applying temperatures between 170 °C and 200 °C.

After extrapolation of the curve to 20 °C and fitting this value in the regression curve, a vapour pressure of:

3.0E-8 Pa was obtained (temperature program 160 °C to 200 °C, evaluation at 170 °C to 200 °C).

Conclusion:

The isothermal thermogravimetric effusion method was chosen for the determination of the vapour pressure of LZ 53478.

This method is suitable for substances with vapour pressures as low as 1E-10 Pa and with purity as close as possible to 100% to avoid the misinterpretation of measured weight losses.

The vapour pressure of the test item was determined:

at 20 °C: 3.0E-8 Pa (mean of three determinations).
