Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The NOEC from Respiration inhibition tests OECD 209 (1984) was 1000 mg/L (30min) and the EC20 was established as more than 1000mg/L (BASF, 1991). The result from study performed at BASF, 1991 was used for PNEC derivation. In this case sludge from a municipal wwtp was used as inoculum to be in compliance with the guidance; NOEC (30 min) was established as 1000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

The result of NOEC value more than 660 mg/L (30 min) is from a study performed according to OECD Guideline 209 (Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test) at BASF in 1987. However, activated sludge from an industrial wwtp was used instead of sludge from a wwtp treating domestic sewage. Therefore, the results from another OECD 209-test from BASF, 1991 were used for PNEC derivation.
