Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Four data from different handbooks and the data from the SIDS dossier where being used for evaluation. When using the closed-cup-method, the flash point of 3-chloropropene under normal atmospheric pressure conditions is -32 °C (-20 °F).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:

The above listed data where being used for evaluation. It is obvious that the data set is very consistent with flash point values in the range from -32 to -29 °C. Data obtained by the closed-cup-method indicate a flash point of 3-chloropropene under normal atmospheric pressure conditions is -32 °C (-20 °F), which is also the value used in the SIDS dossier.

Based on this flash point, and in connection with the substance's boiling point of 45 °C, it is concluded that 3 -chloropropene fulfills the criteria for classification as R11 "highly flammable liquid".
