Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In general, all LC/LL50(96h) values derived with different fish species for various test substances in the SCAE C2 -C8 category were above the limit of water solubility.

The acute toxicity of Fatty acids, C8-16, 2-ethylhexyl esters to the zebra fish (Danio rerio) was tested under semi-static conditions according to EU Method C.1 at concentrations of 1000, 3000 and 10000 mg/L (Wierich 1998). There were no toxic or sublethal effects at any concentration after an incubation period of 96 hours observed, resulting in an EC50(96h) of >10000 mg/L (nominal). Analytically, concentrations above the limit of water solubility were retrieved (e.g. 15.8 and 6.1 mg/L) from the 3000 mg/L sample).

The absence of negative effects on fish is underlined by a test on the marine species Scopthalmus maximus where the test substance was added as WAF, resulting in a nominal LL50(96h) value > 5600 mg/L (Hudson 2002).
