In accordance with EC 1907/2006, Annex VIII, point 9.2.2.1, column 2, hydrolysis as a function of the pH is not required since B-TTEGME is readily biodegradable, as shown in study section 4.1.2.1.2.

B-TTEGME contains 50% of the borated glycol ester B-TEGME and two other borated glycol esters at quantities of 40% (B-TetraEGME) and 10% (B-PentaEGME). All components of B-TTEGME are homologue esters. Ester bonds are cleaved by hydrolysis. Experimental evidence for spontaneous hydrolysis of the ester bond is available for B-TEGME. Hydrolysis of B-TEGME as a function of the pH confirms B-TEGME is not stable in water: B-TEGME was hydrolysed spontaneously and immediately after contact with water pH 1.4, 4,7 and 9. This result is considered representative for the hydrolytic behaviour of the other two borated glycol esters of B-TTEGME, i.e., it is concluded that B-TTEGME is hydrolysed spontaneously after contact with water at the above pH values.
