TOC was used to analyze the samples The preliminary result did not include the subtraction of a sample blank, as was the case for the definitive test, as no sample blank was performed. This will therefore represent a worst case scenario.


Centrifugation was not used in the clean up procedure of the saturated samples of the definitive test as this had been shown to be ineffective during clean up of the preliminary test sample. The definitive result can be considered a worst case scenario as TOC analysis is not substance specific so any other carbon containing component from the test item would be measured as well.

Conclusions:
During this study the water solubility of the main component in Leuco Sulfur Brown 37 (i.e. the organic dye fraction) was determined and found to be 31.4 mg/L at 20 °C using the flask shaking method.
