Additional information

The substance 2-ethylhexyl salicylate is readily biodegradable. Thus, no further degradation tests (biotic or abiotic) are necessary. The substance is considered rapidly degradable in the environment. No persistence of the substance in the environment is expected.

The substance has a moderate volatility under environmental conditions (Henrys law constant: 60.56 Pa· m3/mol). The Koc was calculated with KOCWIN v2.00 (Episuite). The mean Koc of both methods is 12963.5 L/kg which shows that the substance is immobile in soil.

Despite the high log Kow, bioaccumulation in aquatic species is not expected as the BCF estimated with the method of Arnot and Gobas is only 123.7 L/kg ww considering that the substance has a half-life in fish of less than a day.
