Executive summary:

A bioaccumulation test in fish was performed by MITI on test substance butanone oxime. A range finding study was performed on Rice fish (Oryzias latipes) were LC50 after 48 hours exposure was 560 ppm. In the main test, carp fish (Cyprinus carpio) were exposed to 2 (1st concentration area) and 0.2 ppm (2nd concentration area) test substance during 6 weeks in an aqueous flow-through system. The lipid content was 4.9%. The biocconcentration factor (BCF) for butonone oxime was determined to be (0.5)-(0.6) at a concentration of 2 ppm, and <2.5 -(5.8) at a concentration of 0.2 ppm. The test substance was determined to have a low bioconcentration potential.

Butan-2-one O,O',O''-(vinylsilanetriyl)oxime undergoes rapid hydrolysis in aqueous to butanone oxime and the corresponding silanol. Silanetriol undergo continuous condensation reactions to produce higher molecular weight siloxanes which are considered biologically unavailable. Therefore, both butan-2-one O,O',O''-(vinylsilanetriyl)oxime and butanone oxime have comparable values for the relevant molecular properties for bioaccumulation.

It should be also taken into accoun that the substance undergoes rapid hydrolysis (half-life < 1h) in aqueous to 2-butanone oxime and vinylsilanetriol. The estimated log octanol-water partition coefficients (Log Kow) for the degradation products, 2 -butanone oxime and vinylsilanetriol were estimated to be 1.69 and -2.01 (EPI-Suite, KOWWIN v1.68). According to Verschueren et al (2009) the Log Kow of 2 -butanone oxime was reported to be 0.36. Morevoer, the corresponding silanols undergo continuous condensation reactions to produce higher molecular weight siloxanes which are considered biologically unavailable.


 


Based on the available information, the test item is determined to have low bioconcentration potential based on the properties of its degradation products.
