Description of key information

EC50 (48 h) for Daphnia magna = 91 mg a.i./L (nominal, DIN 38412, part II)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The assessment is based on the data currently available. New studies, based on the category review and the final decisions issued for some of the category substances, which are also relevant for this assessment, are currently being conducted. The hazard assessment with respect to aquatic toxicity will be updated once all ongoing studies have been finalised.

No acute invertebrates studies on toxic effects of AES (C9 -12, 1 -2.5EO) NH4 (CAS 160901 -27 -9) are available. Therefore, a read-across approach from the structural comparable AES (C8 -10, 2.5EO) Na was applied.

This study was performed according to DIN 38412, part II for AES (C8 -10, 1 -2.5EO) Na. Under static conditions an EC50 (48 h) value of 91 mg a.i./L (nominal) for Daphnia magna was determined (Z&S, 1992).
