Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Melting (i.e. solid-to-liquid transition) occurs in the range ca 45.5 to 88.9°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two reliable experimental studies, performed according to OECD guideline, are available. The first one, conducted with the capillary method, provided four results in the range 68.8 to 88.9°C. An additional determination, conducted with the DSC method, showed an endothermal event corresponding to melting in the range 45.5 to 78.5°C.

Considering that the substance is a multi-constituent, transition is not anticipated to occur at a single temperature. Moreover, with such substances, behaviour may be influenced by testing conditions (eg heating rate vs thermal inertia).

Therefore, both studies were considered as consistent, in a Weight-of-Evidence approach, and the lower and upper limits were retained. Thus, since the final result is expressed as a range, no single key value is given.
