Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

No test data are available for trichloro(methyl)silane. Reliable acute aquatic toxicity test results are however available from two read-across substances (Triethoxy(methyl)silane (CAS 2031-67-6) and Trimethoxy(methyl)silane (CAS 1185 -55 -3)). A 96-hour LC50 value of >500 mg/L (nominal concentration) has been determined for the effects of Triethoxy(methyl)silane on mortality of Brachydanio rerio. A 48-hour EC50 value of >500 mg/L (nominal concentration) has been determined for the effects of Triethoxy(methyl)silane on mobility of Daphnia magna. A 72 EC50 value of >3.6 mg/L and NOEC of ≥3.6 mg/L (geometric mean measured concentration) have been determined for the effects of Trimethoxy(methyl)silane on growth rate of Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata. The same algal test results expressed in terms of nominal concentrations were >120 mg/L and ≥120 mg/L respectively. An ASRI EC50 value of >100 mg/l (loading rate) has been determined for trimethoxy(methyl)silane.

The test organisms were predominantly exposed to the hydrolysis products of the substances i.e. methylsilanetriol in all cases and either methanol or ethanol. Methylsilanetriol is also a hydrolysis product of trichloro(methyl)silane, along with hydrogen chloride.
