Description of key information

Biodegradation of cloquintocet-mexyl has been investigated in water, water/sediment systems and soil.

Biodegradation of cloquintocet-mexyl was observed in a screening test, but the substance was rated as “not readily biodegradable”. Cloquintocet-mexyl rapidly degraded in aerobic and anaerobic water/sediment systems, but slowly degraded in sterile condition. The half-lives of cloquintocet-mexyl in the water and the sediment phase were found to be 0.2 and 0.7 days, respectively.

Biodegradation in soil under aerobic conditions was very fast (DT50 from 0.2 to 2.4 days, depending on soil types and experimental conditions), while cloquintocet-mexyl persisted in anaerobic/sterile conditions.
