Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Substance phosphorous acid, tri-C12-C14-alkyl esters is stable in water for 24h but nearly 90% of degradation is observed at 48h. The major degradation products are phosphorous acid, dodecan-1-ol and tetradecanol.

The biodegradation test shows that the substance is biodegradable up to 51 % after 28 days. Therefore, it cannot be considered as readily biodegradable but in more favorable conditions, it is expected to reach higher levels.

Due to the tensio-active property of the substance, the HPLC screening method is not applicable and estimation of the adsorption coefficient has to be performed with the the predictive model KOCWIN, version 2.00. The C12and C14 esters have been considered for modelisation and estimated adsorption coefficient values ranged from log Koc 10.9 to 15.9, respectively. These estimated partition coefficients are out of the applicability domain of the model and should therefore be considered with caution.
