Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is a solid at standard temperature and pressure and, therefore, the flash point test is not required in REACH. However, since the substance is produced, transported, stored and used as a liquid above the melting point, the flammability of this substance is determined on the basis of the flash point.

For the molten substance a flash point of 91°C was determined and reported in a recent Safety Data Sheet by ,Momentive Performance Materials GmbH in 2010. Trichlorophenylsilane, CAS 98-13-5, which has a similar vapour pressure (44 Pa versus 67 Pa) and flammability of the organic side chain (phenyl versus propionitrile) has a measured flash point of 91.8°C.

Experimental data and read across from trichlorophenylsilane provide sufficient evidence to suggest that the substance should be classified for this endpoint
