Conclusion on classification

Dichloromethyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)silane is expected to hydrolyse rapidly in contact with water tomethyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)silanediol andhydrochloric acid (Half-life estimates were < 17 seconds for pH 4, 7, and 9 at 1.5°C., see Section 4.1.1.1).The substance is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

Dichloromethyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)silane is classified as Chronic 3 for the environment in the EU according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 because measured data for the parent substance show a EC50/NOEC of > 10 mg/l (EC/LC50values in the 10-100 mg/l) as lowest endpoint and lack of degradability of the hydrolysis product.
