Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance failed to attain 60% of the theoretical degradation within a 10-day test window following achieving 10% degradation but otherwise is considered readily biodegradable under the conditions of this test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable but failing 10-day window

Additional information

An EU Method C.4 -C (Determination of the "Ready" Biodegradability - Carbon Dioxide Evolution Test) and OECD Guideline 301B (Ready Biodegradability CO2 Evolution Test) study was conducted following GLP. The mean cumulative CO2 production by mixtures containing HallBrite BHB at 10 mgC/l was equivalent to 10% of the theoretical (TCO2) after 12 days, 57% by Day 28 and 65% by the end of the test on Day 29. HallBrite BHB failed to attain 60% of the theoretical degradation within a 10-day test window following achieving 10% degradation but otherwise is considered readily biodegradable under the conditions of this test.
