Biodegradation in water screening tests: 22% (TOC) biodegradation in 28 days.

Additional information

The key study is the only biodegradation study available for the substance. In a test conducted in accordance with OECD 301C (Modified MITI Test) and in compliance with GLP, the test substance attained 22% (TOC) and 23% (BOD) degradation in 28 days.

 

N,N-bis(trimethylsilyl)aminopropylmethyldiethoxysilane hydrolyses within the timescale of the ready biodegradation study to form 3-(dihydroxymethylsilyl)propylamine, trimethylsilanol and ethanol. The biodegradation observed in the study is mainly attributable to the biodegradation of the ethanol hydrolysis product.

 

Ethanol is readily biodegradable (OECD 2004).

 

No significant biodegradation is expected for the silanol hydrolysis products; 3-(dihydroxymethylsilyl)propylamine and trimethylsilanol.
