Acute tests on all three trophic levels were performed to examine the aquatic toxicity of 3,4-dihydro-2-methoxy-2H-pyran. Daphnia magna turned out to be the most sensitive species revealing an EC50 (48h) > 100 mg/L. Effects of 3,4-dihydro-2-methoxy-2H-pyran towards fish and algae were found in the same range providing a LC50 (96h) of 231.41 mg/L and an EC50 (72h) > 165 mg/L, respectively. Thus, 3,4-dihydro-2-methoxy-2H-pyran is considered acutely not harmful for aquatic organisms.
