Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Aluminium hypophosphite decomposes above 310 °C before melting occurs. At 330 °C decomposition seems intensive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
330 °C

Additional information

Aluminium Hypophosphite was tested to determine the melting point, by capillary method. The test was performed in triplicate with consistent results. At 310 °C the sample in contact with the capillary walls changed its colour getting dark and at 330 °C the sample got up on the capillary walls and browned with a probable concurrent decomposition.

It can be concluded that the sample of the Phoslite IP-A does not melt until 310 °C and up to 330 °C it undergoes to a probable decomposition; no boiling point is reached.
