Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

During manufacturing and formulation, which takes place at the same site, any sludge from the industrial Sewage Treatment Plant is transported to a secure landfill and is therefore not amended to agricultural soil. During use of the registration substance in oil filed applications as a corrosion inhibitor neither natural nor agricultural soil is contaminated. Potential contamination of industrial soil during oil field exploration has to be prevented according to the legislation in place (e.g. UK Department of Energy & Climate Change, Oil and gas: onshore exploration and production, Guidance and Regulation). According to REACH Guidance R.16 industrial soil is not considered a protection target in the framework of chemicals assessment. As the substance is used only on a very limited number of oil field sites the calculation of a PEC regional soil makes not much sense. Because of this very special situation and the fact that natural and agricultural soil will not be exposed to the registration substance terrestrial ecotoxicity tests are not warranted.
