Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The study conducted with TBHP 70% (following the OECD 207 guideline and GLP) on earthworms (Eisenia fetida) for acute toxicity provided a 14-day LC50 value of 166 mg product/kg dry soil (based on mortality).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
166 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

There was 10 and 12.5% mortality in the TBHP 70% treatment rates of 111.11 mg product/kg dry soil on Day 7 and 14 respectively and 100% mortality at 333.3 and 1000 mg product/kg dry soil on Day 7.The 14-day LC50 value was 166 mg product/kg dry soil with 95% confidence limits of 111 – 177 mg product/kg dry soil. The No observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) based on mortality was 37.04 mg product/kg dry soil.

There were no significant treatment related differences in bodyweight of surviving earthworms between the treatment and control groups. The NOEC for this parameter was 111.11 mg product/ kg dry soil as there were no surviving earthworms at 333.33 and 1000 mg product/kg dry soil.

The 14 -day LC50 value of 166 mg product/kg dry soil will be used as the value for the chemical safety assessment of TBHP to the toxicity of soil macro-organisms (excluding arthropods).
