Description of key information

A long-term fish study according to OECD 210 was performed to assess the chronic toxicity of the test item to Pimephales promelas. Pimephales promelas were exposed to a solution of the test item at a single nominal concentration of 10 mg/L for a period of 33 days. The geometric mean measured test concentrations were determined to be 8.3 mg/L and no effects were found on hatching, survival, weight or length, at this concentration. The NOEC is therefore ≥ 8.3 mg/L.

This value is supported by the measured data available for 2,2‘-azobis(isobutyronitrile). The 14-day NOEC in a flow-through study with Oryzias latipes, based on mortality, weight, and length was ≥10 mg/L.
