Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
March 05, 2015 - March 09, 2015
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Parameter:
other: thermal stability: differential scanning calorimetry
Remarks:
closed glass crucible
Value:
126
Remarks on result:
not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement
Remarks:
The heat of decomposition was below 500 J7g; therefore the main test on explosive properties was not necessary. The test item has no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.14.

The test item was tested as received. No further preliminary treatment such as drying or milling was performed.

The DSC measurement with the test item in a closed glass crucible and in a closed glass crucible, which was placed in a closed high pressure crucible showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 470 – 490 °C, which immediately was followed by an exothermal effect. The test was repeated in a closed glass crucible in a closed high pressure crucible increasing the final temperature up to 550 °C in order to reach the end of the exothermal effect. The results of the DSC measurement are summarised in Table 1.

The heat of decomposition was below 500 J/g. Therefore, the main test on explosive properties was not necessary.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item has no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.14.
Executive summary:

The test item Vat Blue 6 had no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.14.

Description of key information

The explosiveness of the test item was determined according to the European Commission Regulations (EC) No. 440/2008,
A.14. Explosive properties and according to and OECD test guideline, OECD 113 Screening test for thermal stability and stability in air.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information
