Short-term toxicity to fish:
A 96 h study was conducted for CAS No.13826-35-2 onZebra fish(Danio rerio), at a test concentrations of 0.6mg/L, 1.32mg/L, 2.90mg/L, 6.38mg/L, 14.03mg/L. The fishes were moving slowly as compared to control. No mortalities were found in the control aquaria.
LC0 (96 hours) (highest loading at which no mortality was observed) = 1.32
LC50 (96 hours) Experimental = >1.32mg/L and <2.90mg/L
LC100 (96 hours) (lowest loading at which 100% mortality was observed) = 14.03 mg/L
LC50 (through probit analysis) = 4.44mg/L
Thus considering the CLP criteria for study the substance 3-phenoxybenzylic alcohol was likely to be toxic in aquatic category 2.

By applying weight of evidence approach to the target substance 3-Phenoxybenzyl alcohol, the endpoint value was found to be EC50= 0.05 mg/L to 1.5 mg/l in 48 hrs; on the basis of immobilization effect.
Thus considering the value of the endpoint for aquatic classification of the substance, it is concluded that substance likely to exhibit short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) in category 1.
Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
The effect of test item 3-phenoxybenzylic alcohol, CAS No.13826-35-2 was studied on the growth of fresh water green alga Chlorella vulgaris. The study was conducted following OECD guideline 201- Alga growth inhibition test. The test concentration chosen for the study were 0.21mg/L, 0.63mg/L, 1.89mg/L, 5.67 mg/L, 17.01mg/L and 51.03mg/L. The test concentrations were prepared using stock solution of the test item using mineral media. The green alga was exposed to the test concentration for a period of 72 hours to observe average specific growth rate and % growth inhibition under the effect of the test item. EC50 calculated graphically through probit analysis was observed to be 13.498 mg/L.
Toxicity to microorganisms:
Toxicity to fungi was performed using different fungi species which are treated with 3 Phenoxybenzylalcohol at concentration ranging from 0 – 100mg per liter. Test compounds were added to molten potato dextrose agar mixed for 2 min on a rotary shaker and dispensed in agar plate which is then inoculated with 7 mm mycelial disc. After that plates were incubated at 25°C till the mycelia growth was reached to 50-75 mm. Plates were examined and 50% inhibition of growth were determined.
After experiment EC50 value after treatment with 3 Phenoxybenzylalcohol (13826-35-2) for different fungi was found to be as follows:
Trichoderma viride(18 mg per liter),Arthrobotrys botryosporu(30 mg per liter) ,Fusarium oxysporum(50 mg per liter),Botrytis allii(8mg per liter),Prstaiotia sp(30mg per liter)
