Justification for classification or non-classification

As IF5 reacts violently with moisture, forming hydrofluoric and iodic acids, classification of IF5 for toxicity is based on the classification of HF according to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, for human toxicological properties. Since HF is not classified for sensitisation according to this CLP regulation and EU Directive 67/548/EEC, classification of IF5 is not warranted.
