A literature review was conducted. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated. Brown and Green,1940 (as cited in REAXYS, 2014A) reports the melting point to be -4.5 °C at 1013.25 hPa. Furthermore Knother et al. 2009 (as cited in REAXYS, 2014B) reports the melting point to be -5.08 °C at 1013.25 hPa and the Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary 15th Edition (as cited in HSDB, 2014) reports the melting point to be -4.5 °C at 1013.25 hPa. Three independent literature sources report the melting point in the same range. Thus, a melting point of -4.5 °C was chosen as key value for chemical safety assessment as it was from the most reliable literature source.
