Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- There was reported a near-fatal case of poisoning involving a 42-year-old woman who after several hours of painting in a closed room developed chest pain, cyanosis, apnoea and cardiac arrest with ventricular fibrillation. During hospitalization, pulmonary oedema, haemolytic anaemia and metabolic abnormalities were observed. The exposure from the white spirit in the lacquer and paint she was using was estimated to be very high because of the lack of ventilation.
