Description of key information
The two studies in the test substance Silicic acid, aluminum sodium salt (CAS 1344-00-9, NAS) did not show adverse effects up to their nominal loading rates of 10,000 mg/l. These studies were conducted on fish and algae.
Further studies were conducted with the read-across substance Silicic acid, aluminum magnesium sodium salt (CAS 12040-43-6, SMAS) (short-term in fish, short-and long-term in aquatic invertebrates, in algae, and in microorganisms) also did not show any signs of toxicity.
