Additional information

There are few results on in vivo mutagenicity but the quality of the data appears reliable: result is not mutagenic.

On the other hand there is extensive data on in vitro mutagenicity in mammalian cells: positve results were also found.

Bacteria mutagenicity is negative.

Short description of key information:
bacteria mutagenicity: negative.
in vitro mammalian cells mutagenicity: partially positive.
in vivo mutagenicity in mammalians: negative.

Endpoint Conclusion:

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data points to in vitro but not in vivo mutagenicity. The data is therefore regarded as conclusive but not sufficient to classify 2-ethoxyethanol as germ cell mutagenic.
