Additional information

Acute tests on all three trophic levels were performed with the analogous substance isobutyl vinyl ether (CAS 109 -53 -5) to examine the aquatic toxicity of methyl vinyl ether (CAS 107 -25 -5); the read-across is suitable because the substance has te same functional groups and a comparable moelcular structure and size, according to SIDS Initial Assessment Profile 23, 17-20 October 2006.

Fish turned out to be the most sensitive species revealing a LC50 (96h) of 28.3 mg/L. Acute effects towards algae and invertebrates were found in the same range providing an ErC50 (72h) of 45.9 mg/L and an EC50 (48h) of 52 mg/L, respectively. Thus, methyl vinyl ether (CAS 107 -25 -5) is considered to be acutely harmful for aquatic organisms.
