VSAMP = VCELL - (VEXP/((P1/P2)-1))

Absolute density = WTSAMP/VSAMP

Relative density = Absolute density / 1.000 g/cm3

where:

P1 and P2 are pressure measurements taken by the pycnometer

VCELL and VEXP are cell constants equal to 8.520 cm3 and 6.259 cm3

VSAMP is the skeletal volume of the sample in cm3

WTSAMP is the sample weight

Calculations

VSAMP = 8.52 - (6.259/((19.800/10.982)-1)) = 0.725 cm3

Density = 1.125 / 0.725 = 1.552 g/cm3

Relative density = 1.553 / 1.000 = 1.55
