Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The decomposition energy of pyrrolidine is greater than 330 J/g, but based on the high onset temperature (415 °C) the estimated self-accelerating decomposition temperature is greater than 75 °C.

Additional information

The stability of the test substance was assessed according to DIN 51007, which is a valid method. According to CLP the classification procedures for self-reactive substances and mixtures need not be applied if for a single organic substance or a homogeneous mixture of organic substances the estimated self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) is greater than 75 °C or the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 300 J/g. The decomposition energy is greater than 330 J/g, but based on the high onset temperature (415 °C) the SADT is estimated to be greater than 75 °C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, pyrrolidine is not classified for self-reactivity.
