Conclusion on classification

The experimental values for aquatic toxicity along with the applied assessment factors ensure that the PNECs are very conservative and protective of organisms in the environment. However in the absense of adequate chronic data, chronic 2 for aquatic toxicity does apply because the fish study values are below the Algae ErC10 (which is the only chronic value available).

Therefore using the acute toxicity value of 1.32 mg/L for fish and the chronic toxicity estimate for algae (> 1.65 mg/L), the substance meets the criteria for Acute Category 2 and Chronic Category 2 hazardous to the aquatic environment.See: Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008; See Official Journal of the European Union, (2008) Vol. L353, pp. 1-1355, at p. 131.
