The dermal irritation potential of sulfoacetic acid was assessed in rabbits according to Standard Draize test. 20 mg of sulfoacetic acid was applied on to the skin of rabbits. The rabbits were exposed to the test chemical for 24 hours and observed for signs of irritation.
Sulfoacetic acid was moderately irritating to rabbit skin after 24 hours of exposure.
Hence, sulfoacetic acid can be considered to be moderate dermal irritant.
