Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One valid key study is available to assess the 48h acute toxicity of γ-nonalactone to aquatic invertebrates. Daphnia magna were exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 0 (blank control), 25, 50 and 100 mg/L under static conditions. An analytical monitoring of the concentrations was performed at t=0h and t=48h. The concentrations were maintained during the exposure period (98 to 106.4% of the initial concentrations after 48 hours), therefore the result was based on nominal values. The 48h-EC50 was determined by geometric mean of EC0 and EC100 values and corresponds to 52 mg/L. However, this value was recalculated with ToxRat Professional software v2.10 and corresponds to 59.6 mg/L.

The 48h-EC50 at 59.6 mg/L was chosen for the chemical safety assessment.
