No tests with soil organisms are available for Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, hydrogenated, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 68440-06-2), but due to the substance properties and use, a hazard to soil organisms is assumed to be low: As Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, hydrogenated, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 68440-06-2) are expected to be readily biodegradable (read-across to the structurally very similar Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 68334-05-4)) and are not directly applied to soil it is assumed that such substances will not enter the terrestrial environment and as such there is no need for testing of soil organisms (Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, R7c, pg. 109, ECHA 2008). Furthermore the structurally very similar substance Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 68334-05-4) showed no toxicity in studies with aquatic organisms.
Thus, the generation of soil toxicity data is not required.
