No experimental data evaluating the biodegradation potential of Reaction mass of sodium hydrogen N-(1-oxooctadecyl)-L-glutamate and stearic acid are available. Therefore, in accordance with Annex XI, 1.5 of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, data from a structurally related analogue substance and for a main component of the substance are used in a read-across approach. A biodegradation screening study performed with the read-across substance l-Glutamic acid, N-coco acyl derivs., monosodium salts (CAS No. 68187-32-6) showed 94.4 % biodegradation in 28 days. A biodegradation screening study performed with the main component stearic acid showed 95 % biodegradation in 21 days.

Based on these results Reaction mass of sodium hydrogen N-(1-oxooctadecyl)-L-glutamate and stearic acid is expected to be readily biodegradable as well and therefore, rapidly biodegraded in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. Thus, in accordance with Annex IX, column 2 (9.2.1.2, 9.2.1.3 and 9.2.1.4) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, further simulation testing on biodegradation of the substance in water, sediment and soil is not required.
