Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the test hydrolysis as a function of pH (required in section 9.2.2.1.) does not need to be conducted as the substance is insoluble in water (see endpoint 4.8.; read across water solubility < 0.1 mg/L,  calculated water solubility 6.4 x10-7 mg/L) and because it is not possible to develop an analytical method sensitive enough to support analysis of samples from the hydrolysis test.  Also, based on structural features hydrolysis is expected to be difficult for the members of this category due to steric hindrance. However, if hydrolysis would occur, it would generate the starting materials again, being pentaerythritol and 2 -ethylhexanoic acid.
