Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There is no data available on 2 -(2 -(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol. There is data available on closely related analogues A full and detailed justification for a category approach for meeting the individual data requirements for glycol ethers is included as an attachment in chapter 13 to this dossier.  From this analysis there is clear evidence across the whole category that the E series glycol ethers do not show skin sensitising properties. Extrapolation of experimental data from a similar member of the glycol ether family (in this case another triethylene glycol alkyl ether) is scientifically justified.

Brake Fluid DOT 4 Super, a mixture primarily of borated and non borated 2 -(2 -(2 -methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol, was tested for sensitisation in Guinea pigs using the Magnusson and Kligman assay. No evidence of sensitisation was observed, and the formulation was considered to be non-sensitising.
