Description of key information

Flash point = 56.3°C (experimental)

Flammability in contact with air or water is waived based on the chemical structure and experience.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

As the substance is a liquid, the relevant test for flammable properties is the flash point measurement. A reliable experimental study is presented under point 4.11.

Based on the chemical structure and experience, no flammable properties are anticipated if contact with air or water, therefore studies were deemed unnecessary.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the retained flash point value of 56.3°C, diisopentyl ether is classified as flammable liquid (H226) according to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. According to Annex I of Directive 67/584/EEC, the substance is classified as Flammable Liquid (R10).
